Members of the ESAM teaching staff are working professionals : executives, managing directors, experts, lawyers, consultants from the IGS group, and from other specialized agencies, independent trainers and consultants.
These specialists share their know-how and up-to-date experience with the students. Their courses are based on situations experienced in business within their specialized field. The theoretical, technical and methodological teachings are consequently backed up by real life situations. ![]() |

The Vocational Master’s level in Auditing, strategic and legal development of organizations is taught through a ‘block-release’ format backed up by ESAM’s professional expertise.
Why combine work and study ? This educational format allows the student to integrate the working environment smoothly and to establish their career plans. The choice of a ‘block-release’ format shows a desire to facilitate permanent interactivity between in-company assignments and in-class learning. How the block-release is organized - October to December : full time at the school - January to May : in the company - June – July : 3 days in-company / 2 days in school - July – September : Full time in the company.* * Students must present their thesis orally to an examination panel in September ![]() |
To introduce students to the ins and outs of professional life, the ESAM schedules 'professional application exercises’ throughout their studies. They are to help the students establish professional goals, develop an analytical approach and prove their commitment and ability to take responsibilities. Examples of this type of work :
Applied research thesis (or professional thesis)
The final phase of the course is writing a thesis around a professional project which they have carried out during their different in-company work periods.
Examples of thesis subjects in applied research for the 2006 graduate year :
Advisory Assignment
In the 5th year the students carry out an advisory assignment for a company that takes them on to solve a real problem which may be strategic, legal, financial… or concern general organization.

The year groups at the ESAM are small enough to allow all students to enjoy individualized supervision. The course managers offer continuous tutoring and supervision while the student is in the company. If the student is on a block-release course, then regular meetings are arranged between the course managers and company tutors.

The pedagogy, based on action and group work, encourages students to learn how to behave correctly in a team and it is designed to help build leadership, listening and negotiation skills necessary for any business executive. Most of the subjects taught are then put into practice in mini groups. The students work on practical case studies, which are mainly created by the teaching staff. These exercises present a business situation and necessitate a recommendation study.
