TESTIMONIAL
San Diego is on the South coast of California next to the Mexican border and 200KM (125 miles) south of Los Angeles.
Today, San Diego is California’s second city. It is a huge city, an all-year tourist resort and a busy port with a large naval base. Despite its size, San Diego is not as crowded or busy as Los Angeles and does not suffer from air pollution like Los Angeles does…you are struck by a feeling of calm and serenity.
San Diego has one of the largest historical districts in the country: the Gaslamp Quarter, with its old Victorian houses. In a word…FABULOUS!
Not to be missed: a little boat trip around the military harbour (during WWII the US Navy built the largest naval base in the world there and the biggest naval airport in the Pacific). You will be amazed by all the aircraft carriers!
And finally, though there are so many other things to see (the city has lots of museums, a world-renowned zoo, an outstanding cultural centre – Balboa Park – and lets not forget La Jolia…) a visit to the San Diego Mission, which is really worth seeing. A word of advice: Mexico is really close by and you can feel it. You must, at all costs, eat in one of the Mexican restaurants in the city…and for bargains go to Tijuana, a Mexican town only 15kms south of San Diego.
