Most students in rented accommodation can claim a benefit paid by the CAF (Caisse d'Allocations Familiales – Family benefit Fund) that is aimed at covering at least part of their rent.
To obtain financial help, you must :
- Have a rental contract (the lease cannot be in your parent’s name),
- • Live in the accommodation as a main residence (the rent receipts must be made out in your name) and your income must be below a specific ceiling.

- the ALS: Social housing benefit.
