Financial help

Most students in rented accommodation can claim a benefit paid by the CAF (Caisse d'Allocations Familiales – Family benefit Fund) that is aimed at covering at least part of their rent.

To obtain financial help, you must :
  • Have a rental contract (the lease cannot be in your parent’s name),
  • • Live in the accommodation as a main residence (the rent receipts must be made out in your name) and your income must be below a specific ceiling.
There are two types of housing benefit paid by the CAF, which can be cumulative :
  • the APL : Personalized housing benefit
  • the ALS: Social housing benefit.

For more information, contact your local CAF.
